It´s too hot to play videogames. At least it´s too hot to force an entire team to practice and sit together at fixed times, when there will be various events that could happen during such a nice summer.

You´re receiving spontaneously an invitation to an event (party, concert, festival, birthday)

You want to enjoy the sun, beach and everything what can be done outside at high temperatures.

It´s too hot, you are sweating already and the hot computer gaming-place is just not the right spot to be at.

And so on...

Thus I announce: "This clan taking a summer break!".

(Auto resize: show original)

On Tom's Guide there has been released a hardware review about mousepads about one month ago. Since this review covers alot of different mousepads, it explains details about different technologies and interviews with executives of companies who produce them, I thought I pass on this review.

Following persons were interviewed:

Dayne Wilcox, Logitech, global product manager

Debbie Uttechet, Microsoft, senior product marketing manager

Robert Krakoff, Razer, President of Razer

Kim Rom, SteelSeries, chief marketing officer

These mousepads were reviewed:

Saitek Cyborg V.3

Saitek Cyborg V.5

Razer Sphex

Razer Megasoma

Razer Vespula

Razer Goliathus

Greensforged Remember Ravenholm

SteelSeries 9HD

SteelSeries NP+

SteelSeries Experience I-2

SteelSeries QCK

SteelSeries QcK Heavy

Kensington Memory Foam Wrist Rest

Kensington Versatile Wrist Rest

Kensington Memory Foam Mouse Wrist Rest

Old Mousepads

A Magazine

No Mousepad

Here is a short excerpt:

Once upon a time, mousepads were a requirement. Ball mice, which tracked the computer’s cursor based on the turning of a metallic, rubber-coated ball inside the mouse, needed a surface with enough friction in order for the ball to turn. Ball mice have been obsolete for the last decade, replaced by more accurate laser and optical mice. So why keep mousepads around?

...

There are several different types of mousepads you can buy today, but knowing which one is the best for you is more complicated than you may think. There are hard mats, soft mats, metal, cloth, silicon, and even glass. Some come with designs, some glow in the dark, some are big, and some are small. So what are the criteria for finding the best mousepad for you?

SyncError from Id Software wrote:

Today's update brings improvements to our ability to support LAN events, and in particular to support more than one LAN event at any given time. An additional bonus to this new support is that now when LAN events are actively running, players outside of the event will have the option on their match browser of selecting from 'LAN Events' on their Location filter. This will allow you to view match thumbnails and scoreboxes for these matches as they occur. We have a few events running at the end of this month, we hope you enjoy following the scores of these LAN matches live.
match details - click ...luding Dirds match report

Here is my pov:

CTF* is one of the strongest, if not the strongest UT2004 CTF team out there. Every gametype and round against that clan was hard to win.

I think we were exhausted and nervous in the end. And I was a little bit disappointed, if not to say sad that we lost. I asked myself several questions before that 5th map began. Again in a cup-final? Again a 5-mapper? And after. Again lost the 5th map? What tactical decisions could have been made different, to have a better outcome?

But now, when I see the scores, I´m really glad with the teamplay, the outcome, the result!

I can´t see into the minds and soul of the persons we have played with and against, but I hope you were excited as I was and you felt something special.

It´s just a hobby, and we all have better things to do than only staring at the monitor all day long, moving the mouse around, smashing buttons and fragging pixels. But sometimes this weird free time activity delivers some real fun moments.

So thanks for the game!

A CAPTCHA is a program that can tell whether its user is a human or a computer. You've probably seen them — colorful images with distorted text at the bottom of Web registration forms. CAPTCHAs are used by many websites to prevent abuse from "bots," or automated programs usually written to generate spam. No computer program can read distorted text as well as humans can, so bots cannot navigate sites protected by CAPTCHAs.
